Evaluation Q1 -3

Q1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Eval Q1

Q2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My magazine appeals to the Younger target audience due to the genre and the appealing to the younger audience. In my main article young people are not stereotyped as they aren't "hoodies" but my interview does contain colloquialism to show the readers they are real people and because they are young they can relate to them. I have subverted the stereotyping of young people as the interview is about awaring people of the current issues not just about partying, smoking and drinking. I have also used adolenscenes on my magazine to appeal to the target audience as well as throughout the magazine. I have used the uses of computer skills and by using the polaroid shots I have yet again targeted the Younger Audience.

Q3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I have chosen IPC Media as they are connected to NME and NME is similar to my music magazine because of the music genre. I would also choose them because they know what type of magazine NME is and they would also help me with my magazine as they have the experience and also deliver magazines that can also be niche and mainstream. My audience would also see me with IPC Media because NME is associated with them making my magazine mainstream as well.

Evaluation Q4 - 7

Q4) Who would be your audience for your media product?
My target group is mainly from 14- 24 year old as they mainly tend to stick to couple types of music genre rather than the older age as they listen to any music genre. I have also chosen a younger target group as i have researched this using my Audience questionnaire and most of the people i had asked my questions were mostly the younger age and liked my music magazine.

My target audience would mostly be students as they would still be in school or in university. Their interests would probably be watching films, going out, music, technology such as mobiles, PlayStation's, Nintendo Wii's, Xbox and the Internet. The type of Physographic's are Succeeders. Succeeders are the people who have money and the life but don't need to show off. These are my target audience as they can afford to buy things but don't need to show off.

Q5) How did you attract/address your audience?
On my front cover i have used direct mode of address as the artists are staring at the camera which means they would be staring at the audience engaging their attention and making sure they look at the magazine or persuading them to buy it. I have also used bright colours to attract the audience and highlighting the Main cover line and freebies in white to make sure they stand out.

The language devices i have used are colloquial as I wanted my readers to feel closer and relaxed when reading the article. I have also used slang on my contents page to make the synopsis short and easy to read. I have used slang in the introduction on my contents to also make the readers feel comfortable and relaxed than using formal text which they wouldn't understand. I also wanted to attract my younger audience by using slang as it would be more easier and comfortable for them.

The models i have used throughout my magazine are dressed casually rather than formal ware as I wanted them to feel relaxed and also attract the younger audience as they would relate to them and be inspired to copy the artists style. I have offered freebies which include free downloads and posters to appeal to my audience and promote my magazine. Used convential language such 'Exclusive, Gossip, Jam Packed and Exciting' to invite my audience in by using superlatives to also attract my audience. I have used bold, large fonts to catch the readers eye or attention and make them look at my magazine and persuading them to buy it.

My models are in a comfortable postition in all shots to make audience and them feel relaxed when looking at the photos to show they had fun doing the interview and the photoshoot rather than stiff, fixed poses which would seem unnatural and boring. I have used the pose on the front cover to also show the models were relaxed and easy going, the pose of them holding hands would also relate to thier friendship.

Q6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Q7) Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at my preliminary i feel as if i did not put enough effort in and i made the magazine look plain and boring. The photo used is not a direct address which would not attract an audience when looking at the magazine. I have used mainy colours showing the magazine has no colour scheme and the masterhead is not striking, the colour is bold but also does not relate to the picture or colour scheme. The coverlines are messy and the different text shows lack of simplicity and the front cover is plain and boring. The contents is plain with the use of colour which does not refer back to the front cover. There are no images and the text is all squished together showing that this is just rushed. The introduction is boring and not exciting. There are no superlatives which would attract the audience.

My final courseowrk shows creativity, simplicity and precision. I have learnt a lot as you can see with my magazine especially using Photoshop and finding out my target audience. I have planned out what i want my magazine to consist of and also show neatness and precision used when conducting my magazine. I have shown a variation of ideas such as the colour scheme, photos being used and the text.

This is the presentation of my screen shots when creating my music magazine on Adobe Photoshop.

Audio Focus Questions

Here is the link to my audio questions.
I have asked an 19 year old and a 15 year old my focus questions.

I have used audio questions because I wanted to see how different people would respond to my music magazine as well as tell me what my magazine should consist of or what would interest them into buying a music magazine.

I had chosen the title Big Bang Monthly as Big Bang is onomatopoeic as seen in Clash magazine. I have also used the idea of initials used in NME to make my masterhead stand out more and easy to read or see when looking at my magazine rather than Big Bang Monthly as my masterhead. I have used this but below my masterhead to show what BBM stands for.

I think the most important feature in a music magazine should consist of new music, up to date music, new artists or bands, events or gigs, chart posititons and interviews of the artists featured on the front page. When asking people about the features in a music magazine they had agreed and said this would attract more audiences outside of the target audience.

I had chosen blue, black, red and white as these colours are mainly associated with inidie music and it refers to British music and these colours also stand out as I had put the front cover image as black and white.

The main article should consist of photo's, question' about the artist's life, extra information about them, events or gigs they would appear in, new tracks or albums and should be easy to read with slang for readers to feel they can relate to them and show the artists are relaxed and easy going. When asking this question the people agreed as the interview should be fun, easy to read and able to make you feel invited .

When reading a music magazine, what inspires me is knowing that the artists or bands featured are real people who are down to earth not obsssed with money or fame and can do normal things such as go out and shop as well as fashion or knowing you can make music to.

What would make me want to buy a music magazineis who is on the front cover, the sell lines, quotes from articles inside, freebies or if any artists or bands i like are featuring in the magazine.

Rejected Photos

All these photo's had been rejected due to blurryness or just because I didn't like them and they did not go with my magazine.
